Reading Books- It is important that you hear your child read regularly at home. We recommend a minimum of five times a week. Please record your child's reading at home by dating and signing their record book, so we can ensure your child is receiving support with their reading. Reading helps to add a variety of vocabulary to your childs repertoire and hopefully these words will be used in writing tasks in the future.

Spellings-A sticker in the front of reading record books on Mondays identifies the spelling group. Your child's spellings will be tested in school on a Friday. We would encourage you to use fun and practical activities to support spellings during the week. The spellings lists for each group can be viewed / downloaded on the class home page under the messages section. We will endeavour to upload them on Mondays (with the exception of Bank Holidays). If your child would like to complete further challenges the Year 3/4 CEW and the high frequency words to learn for this age range can also be viewed below and used for writing, spelling and handwriting practice.

Handwriting- Letter formation and joins are the focus for handwriting throughout Year 3. Children could practice these joins when learning their spellings at home. An example of joins can be found below.
