Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at Winterslow

We are committed to the equal inclusion of all pupils in all areas of school life. At Winterslow Primary School we recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our pupils; we are dedicated to providing an education where every teacher has high aspirations, enabling every child to flourish and achieve their full potential.

Our Inclusion Manager is Mrs Kirsten Groth. She can be contacted via the school office or email: admin@winterslow.wilts.sch.uk

There are four broad areas of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities:

Cognition and Learning

Communication and Interaction

Sensory and/or Physical Difficulties

Our SEND Information Report

Our SEND Information Report is part of Wiltshire County Council’s Local Offer for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. This report is reviewed annually with the Inclusion Manager, Leadership Team and the SEND link Governor.

Dyslexic Friendly Schools

We are currently on the pathway to achieving the Dyslexic Friendly Schools Status in the Summer Term of 2025. Staff at Winterslow are committed to creating a dyslexic friendly classroom, where all children can benefit. We use a range of technology on the laptops and iPads, and children have access to resources such as: Ace dictionaries, reading pens and word mats. Children also have access to a wide range of reading material, such as: graphic novels, First News and dyslexic friendly books (Barrington Stoke).
