PSHE and RSE at Winterslow Primary School
We believe that promoting the health and well-being of all our pupils is an integral part of their overall education and will enable the children to become healthy, responsible and independent members of our society. Our PSHE curriculum encompasses our school’s Christian principles of trust, thankfulness, responsibility and passion, preparing our pupils to make safe and informed decisions during their school years and beyond.
We give children the opportunity to develop their skills and understanding in PSHE in many different areas. Our School Council discuss and make decisions on behalf of their fellow classmates. Year 6 are buddies to our Reception children and develop their nurturing skills. We explore bullying in Anti-bullying week and use the annual NSPCC lessons to promote class discussions. We organise trips, including for those who qualify for Pupil Premium, to places such as the Rocketship Bookshop, the Rainbow Shower Event and to Godolphin Science Department. Our annual Wellbeing Week is a lovely way for the whole school to come together to promote and celebrate our wellbeing and understand why this is so important. We have visitors come into school, such as the fire service, police and school nurse.
