Collective Worship in school
You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Colossians 3.12
As a church school, our ethos is underpinned by our Christian Values of Responsibility, passion, Trust and Thankfulness.
Through Collective Worship we provide opportunities for our pupils to learn about, question, discuss and reflect on a range of Christian Values. We use the Christian calendar as a guide to ensure that we offer a broad perspective on each value which is relevant to the age of our children.

Each term we focus on a different value, exploring a new aspect of that value each week. Monday’s Collective Worship is led by Mrs Bone and focuses on growing our pupil’s voice within the development of our school; Tuesday is clergy led worship with Rev. Simon Chambers and alternately the Open the Book team. On a Wednesday worship is led by Mrs Malcolm and explores our Christian values through the latest news, our UNICEF RRR award, British Values and Protected Characteristics. On a Thursday, Roots and Fruits value worships are led by class teachers and on a Friday we have celebration worship. We also participate in services at All Saints Church regularly throughout the year.
We are very lucky to have close links with our local church. Once a fortnight a small team come across to the school to lead collective worship. Their sessions are called ‘Open the book’. Using ‘The Lion Teller Story Bible’ which has been written in a way which is good for reading out loud to children, they tell the children well known bible stories and invite some of them to participate by helping to act out these stories.
Our Collective Worship Team
Our Collective Worship Team are responsible for the reflection and development of Collective Worship in our school.
The Collective Worship Team meet once a term with Mrs Malcolm. This year our Team will be helping to plan and lead Collective Worship on a Thursday. They will also be helping to create further monitoring systems for evaluating the effectiveness of worship and will provide feedback to Staff and visitors who deliver Collective Worship in our school.
Please see 'Our Voice' display in the School corridor for further information about our Team and visit the Pupil Voice section of our website for our latest updates.
