Home Learning at Winterslow

At school we continue to ensure that our home learning expectations are manageable and that the learning we provide for children is purposefully linked to the knowledge and skills from their learning in class. It is important that children are supported at home to build consistent habits for learning. This includes organisation, time management and completing tasks to their best ability.

You may wish to use the home learning timetable. This is a great way to see where home learning fits in across the week and helps children (and parents!) to plan time and tasks effectively. The home learning tasks set should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete and we advise that you offer guidance and support if your child needs help with a task.

If you are experiencing difficulties with a task or accessing online platforms to complete home learning, please speak to your child’s class teacher to see how we can help you and your child in school.

Pupils in Key Stage Two are expected to become more independent when completing their home learning. We recognise that there will be times where home learning is missed or not fully completed by a child. If home learning is consistently incomplete, we will liaise with families and offer support through our home learning club on a Thursday after school. Alternatively, golden time is used as an opportunity to work with the class teacher to complete missed tasks.
