Service Families

Welcome to Our Service Family Section

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the service families joining our school. We are happy to support in any way we can. Due to the transient nature of service families, we are very experienced at helping new children settle into our school.

Service Ambassadors Club

 Hi!

Mrs Taylor runs the Service Ambassadors Club at Winterslow School on the first Wednesday lunchtime of each month. The children, with the help of Mrs Taylor, plan fun activities for any children who have (or have had) experience of their parents being in the armed forces or supporting them abroad.

The club gives children the chance to talk to other children who have had similar experiences, so they can share their feelings and talk to someone who understands. Service Ambassadors Club is a 'drop in' club, so each month, children can choose whether to come or not.

These are some of the activities that we have done together:

  • decorating cupcakes/baking
  • playing board games
  • lego
  • art and mindfulness colouring
  • Kurling

Our lovely ELSA, Miss Mates, is trained in emotional literacy support and is also on hand to offer support should it be needed.

If you have (or have experienced) a parent in the armed forces then we would love you to join our club. Come and join in the fun!
