Learning Gems 

At Winterslow, our positive learning gems are key to our happy and positive school environment. From Reception, children are introduced to the learning gems and begin to identify positive choices in their learning behaviours and how they link to the gems.

Throughout the school, we continually seek opportunities to reward positive behaviour and learning with learning gems. Classes earn these gems towards their Golden Time on a Friday. 

Superstar Worship

On a Friday, Mrs Bone leads our Superstar Worship. This is a celebration of the learning and events during the week and captures magic moments from our school. Each class teacher awards a Superstar certificate to a learner in the class for demonstrating one of our learning gems throughout the week. 

Reading certificates 

Each week in Superstar Worship, each class teacher awards a Reading certificate for a learner in their class who has demonstrated a love of reading, sustained effort or worked hard to improve their reading. These children also get to write their name on the Reading display in the corridor as a celebration of their efforts. 

Golden Certificates and Citizenship Medal

At the end of each full term we have a special Celebration Worship where additional awards are presented. 

Our Golden Certificates are presented to a learners from each class who has demonstrated many of the learning gems of our school and has made us proud with their effort, focus and perseverance as learners.

The Citizenship Medal is presented to an individual from each class who has been seen to continually go 'above and beyond' as a member of the class; helping others, working hard and sharing and caring.
